Mona Vale and surrounding areas have some fantastic restaurants with great views, often in surprising venues. Here are a few options for a festive catch up or even Christmas lunch.
Previously Park House, this was recently reopened as the Mona Vale Hotel and has some rustic, inviting spaces both inside and out. Classic pub specials during the week, including a $20 rump steak on Mondays and a kids' menu, make this a great spot to meet for a relaxed catch up. The B-Line bus stops right outside, so it’s also good for meeting friends travelling up from the city.
2 Park Street, Mona Vale
Not to be confused with The Mona, our local golf club has some great food and drink on offer to the public. The club house cafe is open daily from 6.30am to 3pm, with breakfast and lunch options, and it also serves dinner from Thursday to Sunday from 4-8pm, either inside or on the expansive deck. Expect great cafe dining and easy family favourites for dinner such as pasta, pizza, burgers and steak sandwiches, plus a great kids’ menu.
Upstairs you’ll find the Mona Social, with dining and a bar, pool tables, views over Warriewood Beach and a menu of bistro classics - think Sydney rock oysters, prawn cocktails and confit duck.
Check out all offerings on the golf club website.
3 Golf Avenue, Mona Vale
This year, the Glasshouse Grill at the RSL is serving up festive Christmas Day specials for those who prefer to stay out of the kitchen. Bookings are currently open for lunch and dinner, serving a three-course Christmas dinner with turkey roulade and Christmas pudding.
82 Mona Vale Rd, Mona Vale
With its stunning beach views, this is the ideal place to impress anyone visiting Sydney from colder climates. The new surf club houses an exceptional restaurant, and this year it’s offering a Christmas lunch of shared dishes from gravadlax to porchetta to Eton mess. You can also enjoy cocktails and an a la carte menu with a mix of elegant mains and casual plates. And if you’re looking for a last-minute Christmas gift for a Northern Beaches local, they also offer vouchers.
1 Surfview Rd, Mona Vale
With beautiful views of Pittwater, a laidback vibe and lots of space inside and out, The Newport is a perfect spot to meet for a relaxed lunch or evening drink or meal. With several kitchens, there is food here to please everyone, from burgers to pizza to seafood, and there’s even an in-house gymnasium for the kids. On Monday December 9, head there for an open-air screening of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and enjoy a relaxed festive night out.
2 Kalinya St, Newport (about 10 minutes from Mona Vale)
Another table with a view, this time overlooking Collaroy Beach, the Collaroy offers modern Australian cuisine with seafood, pizza and of course, freshly shucked oysters, served on the outdoor terrace with sweeping views across the peninsula.
1064 Pittwater Rd, Collaroy
Also at Collaroy Beach, The Surf Deck offers pizza, burgers, share plates and cocktails overlooking the beach from Thursday to Sunday. Sit back and watch the waves roll in.
